Plastic Canvas Pattern for Minecraft Steve

free plastic canvas pattern Minecraft Steve

Whew, I have finally finished this plastic canvas pattern for Steve! He was tough. I went through several versions of him before this one.  The hardest part was figuring out how to attach his limbs and communicating that through a pattern and directions. It seems easiest to complete 6 sides to each piece then attach them together.  I ended up using Velcro. I first tried attaching the limbs by tying each piece together with yarn with was difficult and ended up with a ragdoll effect. Then I tried magnets which I liked but I couldn’t find ones thin enough, and Steve’s arms are already pretty broad as it is.

I am using Velcro thin, clear 5/8 inch circles. They fit perfectly onto the pieces. I did have to use additional glue to put them on, and it looks like I will have to reglue them at some point.

Update: I used Velcro to connect Steve’s appendages, but the Velcro lost its stickiness after only a short period. Optionally, just glue the pieces together leaving the working arm in a raised position.  I plan on trying sew-on snaps if I make another Steve.

My picture of Steve has a beard but I did not include it in the pattern. It seems to make it unnecessarily complicated especially when having to whip stitch his head together.

Keep it organized! Lay the pieces out somewhere safe and in the manner of which they will be stitched together. Notice that the sides of the body face a particular way. Good luck!
